    Geometric Optics in Focus:
    Lab Photography

Geometric optics refers to a model in physics that accurately describes the behavior of light on scales much larger than the wavelength of light. It is particularly useful for describing the propagation of light in different media, such as glass.

Manufacturers of camera lenses employ sophisticated programs based on geometric optics to calculate and optimize the configuration and shape of lenses in camera lenses.

How the results of these calculations, involving light, cameras, and their lenses, can be applied to present physical research, may be explored on these pages.
