PhD studies at the Department of Physics

The goal of your PhD study at the Department of Physics is to independently formulate scientific problems and to find possible solutions.

During your PhD studies you can deepen your education by attending colloquia offered by the department in which renowned scientists give guest lectures as well as in seminars of the research groups. PhD students of the Department of Physics are able to attend the Integrated Research Training Groups of SFB 767 and SFB 1214.

During your PhD studies, you produce a major scientific work under the supervision of a member of the faculty staff of the Department of Physics. Cumulative PhD studies are not possible. You can write you thesis either in German or in English.

The PhD study ends with a scientific presentation on the thesis and on two further scientific areas of physics.

If you are interested in doing your PhD at the department you can find open positions at the homepage of the University of Konstanz or directly get in contact with the project leader of a research topic that interests you.
